To be honest this painting was born purely out of circumstance. I was coming to the end of my residency and I had pretty much run out of white paint. I had one last canvas left so I decided to give it a go without the all essential copious amounts of white paint most artists tend to require.
The painting evolved freely, filled with all the things that had captured my imagination while staying at the residency La Macina Di San Cresci. Church buildings, flowers, unusual fresh scents, long meandering walks on dirt roads, daydreaming my own life into existence among these peaceful, intoxicating pleasures. I suppose the painting is asking if any of us are truly brave enough to pursue our wildest ideas and dreams.
